Midsomer Murders Mystery Mess

April 30, 2014

Later today an email with the following text will be going out to customers with holds on the Midsomer Murder series.  Collection Contacts in community libraries will receive similar information via email.

Dear Midsomer Murders Fan,

We are writing to inform you that your hold(s) for this series have been canceled due to a publishing change that affects Sno-Isle‘s holdings.  Acorn Media the distributor for Midsomer Murders has re-issued the series on DVD with episodes arranged in the order they were first broadcast in the United Kingdom.  The new editions with the UK broadcast order vary significantly from the order on the US editions as you can see from the table below.  Other episodes are similarly jumbled in the older US editions and UK releases for instance the series pilot, The Killings at Badger’s Drift found on the UK Series 1 edition doesn’t appear on the US edition until set 5.

US Set 1 Episodes – this DVD is out of print Appears on the newly released UK editions
Death’s Shadow Series 2 DVD
Blood Will Out Series 2 DVD
Strangler’s Wood Series 2 DVD
Beyond the Grave Series 3 DVD

The US editions owned by Sno-Isle Libraries are no longer available for purchase.  These items will be removed from the catalog and replaced with new UK order editions.  You will need to replace your hold(s) depending on where you are in watching the series and your personal preferences.  To aid you in your decision you can view the UK broadcast order for the entire series at the Wikipedia episode list or at the Midsomer Murders.org website.  We apologize for the inconvenience caused by these new releases.

Sincerely,

Collection Development staff
