Kindle and OverDrive–It’s a Deal!

According to Publisher’s Weekly, Amazon has at last reached an agreement with OverDrive to provide Kindle-compatible content to libraries.  Read the story.

So are we approaching that critical mass tipping point where we plunge into the ebook era for real? This announcement sure makes it feel like one of the last jolting chugs at the tip of the roller coaster.  Before throwing up your hands just yet, though,  you may want to consider that some big players are still not coming to the dance, most notably Simon & Schuster.

So when will this actually happen? The article is tantalizingly vague (“later this year”).  I’m not sure what tenterhooks are but I’m on them.
