Road to Serfdom?

June 15, 2010

What’s up with this?  Alert staff member Marie Byars alerted us to 65 holds on two active copies.  Alert staff member Karen Groves checked and found that most holds were placed on 6/8/2010.  The reason?  Glenn Beck, honored native son of Mount Vernon, featured this title on his show on June 8; our customers rushed to our catalog to place holds.  Originally published in 1944, this treatise by Nobel economist Friedrich von Hayek,  is described by Wikipedia as the most influential and popular expositions of liberalism and libertarianism.

As of this morning, none of our vendors has stock so our two copies, assigned to the POP shelf location, will work through the hold queue.
