“Return to Sender” indeed, wink wink

April 22, 2010

Fern Michaels’ latest, “Return to Sender,” gets panned in the PW March 2010 review:

None of it is especially believable, and the characters are either underdeveloped or maddeningly inconsistent. Additionally, Michaels’s prose is frequently slapdash (“It wasn’t possible, yet her common sense told her it was highly probable!”), but that’s unlikely to diminish the book’s commercial prospects.

this won’t stop the 46 people in queue for the book at Sno-Isle.  the Booklist review is much more positive:

Michaels tells a story that is simultaneously heartbreaking, suspenseful, and tender.

if you’re more inclined to believe the Booklist review, be the first Sno-Isle Libraries employee to comment and you’ll receive the arc.

Heartbreaking, suspenseful, and tender sounds good to me. It is interesting how different the reviews are.
