Nancy Pearl’s PLA Book Buzz

April 12, 2010

unfortunately, i wasn’t able to attend this session, but the panel highlighted hot titles to watch for this spring.  Kelly O’Connor McNees’ debut, “The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott,” comes from the same editor of a couple of titles you may have heard of:  “The Help” and “The Postmistress.”  the trailer is pretty dang funny.

also making the list is Chevy Stevens’ thriller, “Still Missing.”  our own David Menard has this to say about the book on the author’s site

I thought ‘Still Missing’ managed to be a thriller, a mystery, and a family drama all rolled into one that kept me riveted until the very end. Fans of Stieg Larsson will find much to like in Chevy Stevens’ novel about a kidnapped real estate agent determined to escape from her abductor – and find out who is behind the crime.

if you read it and don’t like it, you only have David to blame 😉

i have arcs of each available to the first 2 Sno-Isle Libraries employees to comment.  if you’re the first, please mention which arc you’d like.

I wish I could have gone to PLA but I’ll take a book from there as a consolation prize! (Preferably The Lost Summer of Louisa May Alcott–thanks.)

Marina, the Alcott title is yours!

    Still missing still around?

I would love a copy of a pick if still available.

jackie, the arcs are gone, but keep watching the blog for more to come

  6. David Says:

I happened to mention in passing at the bookstore that we could probably hand-sell “Still Missing” to Larsson fans — and the next thing I knew, I had a publisher’s rep begging for a blurb. It’s certainly no reflection on me, I just used the “L” word (Larsson) which is GOLD, baby!

  7. […] was also one of the picks at the previously mentioned PLA Book Buzz with Nancy […]
