TEEN EXPLORE FACT SHEET

GENERAL INFORMATION

Please check this FACT SHEET if you have collection maintenance and general questions about the TEEN EXPLORE pilot program. If you need further clarification contact Nancy Messenger, Jim McCluskey or Lorraine Burdick.

The TEEN EXPLORE pilot program for 2008 will be located at the four established teen project libraries.

  • MARYSVILLE
  • MONROE
  • MOUNTLAKE TERRACE
  • STANWOOD
  • All TEEN EXPLORE books will be assigned to a branch named ~TXPLOR.
  • The ~TXPLOR branch allows item records to be attached to existing titles in the catalog while masking these holdings in our catalog.

OPENING DAY

  • Books will be shipped in the Friday March 7th delivery.
  • Books can be put on TEEN EXPLORE shelving after arrival.
  • Initially each library will receive 21Teen Explore Monthly Order Sheet titles with multiple copies of each. Branches may need to designate some storage for these multiples to restock shelves initially.
  • On opening day each title should be displayed with no fewer than 5 copies per title.

HOW TO MANAGE

  • Branch staff will monitor their collections and notify Lorraine Burdick Nancy Messenger if they need more copies.
  • A monthly TEEN EXPLORE order sheet is housed on the Collection Development blog. The order sheet is updated weekly to display the quantity available for each title.
  • Branch staff can also swap titles amongst the four TEEN EXPLORE libraries.
  • A TEEN EXPLORE distribution list has been created in MS Outlook to facilitate this process.
  • Purchase suggestions for TEEN EXPLORE can be sent to Lorraine Burdick.

RETURNS

  • Copies returned at non TEEN EXPLORE libraries can be placed in a red delivery box to the nearest TEEN EXPLORE library. TEEN EXPLORE books should not be added to the paperback collection of libraries without TEEN EXPLORE collections.
  • TEEN EXPLORE books do not need to be sent to Service Center for redistribution. Damaged TEEN EXPLORE books should be sent to Service Center with other weeding.
  • TEEN EXPLORE titles can be distinguished from other books, by their TEEN EXPLORE barcode.
