Teen books made into movies

December 29th, 2011 § 4 Comments

Salon published an article asking Teen authors which Teen book should be the next blockbuster film and which Teen film should never have been made:  And the next “Tintin” is…

The authors include:

  • Sherman Alexie
  • M.T. Anderson
  • Lois Lowry
  • Gregory Maguire
  • Maggie Stiefvater

My least favorite is the TV movie made of Madeleine L’Engle’s A Ring of Endless Light.  The film had characters of the same names and it took place in the same location as the book, but the story was completely lost.  I was so disappointed because this is one of my all-time L’Engle favorites.

What is your favorite Teen book made into a movie or your most disliked?

I loved “Holes”. Both as a book and as a movie. And for me that’s unusual because I usually refuse to see a movie if I’ve read and enjoyed the book. thanks for the post!

The next teen “blockbuster” movies should be Maggie Stiefvater’s wolves series (I don’t think this series has a name; first book is Shiver) or Julie Kagawa’s “Iron Fey” series (first book is Iron King).

Looking so forward to the movies based Maggie Stiefvater’s WOLVES books!

One of my all-time favorite teen books is I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith. I could not believe what a dud the movie was.
