steve’s new doorstop coming in november 2011

March 4, 2011

stephen king’s next novel title (11/22/63) will be published next november.  LJ Prepub Alert is reporting that the 1000 page  novel takes a big what if approach to the kennedy assasination.

from LJ

“…reimagines a world where John F. Kennedy has not been assassinated. But first, an unassuming 35-year-old high school teacher named Jake Epping must travel back in time—thanks to the storeroom at the diner run by buddy Al, which serves as a portal to 1958. Encouraged by Al to thwart the murderous intentions of Lee Harry Oswald, Jake enters the Fifties, renames himself George Amberson, and learns to love Elvis, sock hops, and a high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill.”

years ago i began collecting stephen king novels though i haven’t enjoyed his recent fiction, as much as his earlier work, and no doubt my compulsion will drive me to throw my 27.95 down again for this one.  please, please, please let it be better than under the dome which really didn’t flip the switch for me.

leave a comment and tell us what you do when your fav novelist writes something you don’t enjoy?  do you drop it when it starts to suck, or do you stick with it even though its a slog?

PS–since it’s not coming out til november, i don’t have to tell you it’s outside of our 3 month prepub order window, do i?  no, i didn’t think so.
