Nightline ran a segment on Tuesday night about author Lisi Harrison, author of the Clique series of YA novels. Harrison is interviewed about the series as well as teen/tween girls. Harrison says that the books are not promoting blatant consumerism with brand names, but satirizing it. She says that she sees the moral of the books is: “Accept yourself for who you are.”

Sno-Isle has this series on standing order, so we receive them as soon as they are published.

A recurring theme in 20th century children’s publishing: When times are tough, get out the stories about when times were tougher. Slate introduces a slide show featuring kids’ books about financial ruin called: Mom, What’s a Credit Default Swap? Books to read your children during financial crisis. The titles include Little house on the prairie, by Laura Ingalls Wilder; Roll of thunder, hear my cry, by Mildred D. Taylor; and Ramona and her father, by Beverly Cleary.
