Indie pop music from Nettwerk records, and blues from Alligator Records are available for download now through the OverDrive collection.

Nettwerk Records is a large Vancouver B.C. based record and artist management company. You can view a list of artists with accompanying bios by clicking here. Artists such as Barenaked Ladies, Neil Finn, and Sarah McLachlan and many others are all available for download now.

Alligator Records formed in 1971is based out of Chicago and like Nettwerk is an independent label. Featured artists in the Alligator catalog are Elvin Bishop, Buddy Guy, a 2005 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Professor Longhair, and Johnny Winter. Movie studios pondering selling downloads

Movie studios are considering selling you downloads of current movies in high definition BEFORE they offer them as DVD or Blu-ray. As if it isn’t already obvious enough, if they sell it to you as a download the studios profit is significant, since there’s no physical product to produce, package, and distribute. Currently, the hangup is over, you guessed it our old friend DRM. Right now it seems to be all in the early talking stages, but the landscape is definitely changing for libraries offering downloadble feature films. Definitely something to keep an eye on in the future.
