having traveled with “Lonely Planet” guidebooks for years, there have definitely been instances where a place recommended by the guidebook hasn’t existed for years. most recently on a trip to Australia, Lonely Planet recommended a cheap airfare program by Qantas that hasn’t been around for at least 4 years. anyway, one of their writers has written a book, “Do Travel Writers Go to Hell?“, claiming that he plagiarized and made up travel info as reported on by The Daily Telegraph.
