in news today of doris lessing winning the nobel prize in literature, it was mentioned that she is only the 11th woman to win the award since its inception in 1901 – how is that possible?!

NPR had an interesting piece on people who lay odds on who will win the Nobel Prize. I guess people will bet on anything.
